Fall 2024 Sample Syllabi

Your syllabus needs to reflect your practices, beliefs, and values. Here are three sample syllabi, annotated as to their compliance with Cal Poly Pomona syllabus policies and alignment with practices that support equitable student success. Please pay attention to the annotations, as they give rationale and offer alternatives. The sample syllabi contain language addressing academic integrity and generative AI.

The samples are not required templates. You may freely use, adapt, copy, modify, and mix-and-match parts of or the entirety of these syllabi. If you copy, please revise language so it "sounds like you." It's very obvious when someone else's language suddenly appears in your syllabus.

CPP "Policy Compliant" Syllabus: Complies with CPP policy; contains no welcoming language or supportive policies
CPP "Friendly" Syllabus: Complies with CPP policy; contains moderately welcoming language; contains supportive policies; attempts to demystify hidden curriculum
CPP "Warm" Syllabus: Complies with CPP policy; contains extremely welcoming language; contains supportive policies; contains a statement regarding anti-racist teaching and a land acknowledgement; attempts to demystify hidden curriculum
